Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation

The LSAMP program at SSU provides participants with:
  • Reimbursement for required textbooks and materials in all Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) classes
  • Up to $500 per year for travel to professional conferences and visits to
    graduate schools
  • Up to $4,000 per year in stipends for working on STEM research projects
    ($20/hour) with SSU faculty
  • Up to $1,000 per year for supplies for research projects
  • Information about Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) and internship opportunities
  • Reimbursement for Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) preparation courses and GRE registration and score report fees
  • Opportunity to apply for $32,000/year plus tuition and fees for two years
    to participate in a Bridge to the Doctorate program at a selected CSU
    campus
To be eligible for joining CSU-LSAMP, a student must:
  1. Be a STEM major pursuing their first undergraduate degree
  2. Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  3. Be an individual who belongs to a group historically excluded in STEM, or has faced/faces social, educational, or economic barriers to careers in STEM.
