It advances our understanding of the formation of rocks and minerals and how they can be used to reconstruct the history of the Earth's biological, climatic, and tectonic evolution across the enormity of geologic time.

Our faculty are dedicated educators and scholars who engage in primary research to address diverse topics in the biological sciences. Kinesiology

Kinesiology studies human movement from multiple perspectives – biological, behavioral, socio-cultural – to prepare students to lead and participate in a modern, complex society. We prepares students for careers or further study in fitness, health promotion, fitness assessment and exercise prescription, research, and the allied health professions, such as medicine, physical or occupational therapy, athletic training, physician assistant, and chiropractic.

Our mission is to develop exciting formal and informal educational materials that inspire students in grades 5-14 to pursue STEM careers, to train teachers nationwide use of these materials in the classroom, and to enhance science literacy for the general public, with a special focus on increasing the numbers of under-represented students in STEM.

Health Professions Advisory Program

Our program provides guidance to current undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students preparing for careers in the following health professions: dentistry, medicine, optometry, pharmacy, physician assistant, clinical laboratory science and veterinary medicine.

Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP)

LSAMP is an NSF sponsored program designed to broaden participation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics disciplines and increase the number of students receiving baccalaureate degrees, and ultimately Ph.D.s, in STEM disciplines.

Mathematics, Engineering, and Science Achievement (MESA)

MESA is a nationally recognized California academic support program that provides a resilient learning community and strong base to students in the STEM majors. The goal of our program is to increase the number of historically underrepresented students who pursue and persist in STEM related degrees and, ultimately, careers.
